Dialysis Escape Line (DELA)

Dialysis Escape Line Australia is a non-profit organisation which provides a unique service to a growing number of members from around Australia who suffer from renal failure.

Established in 1998 by Nancy Douglas-Irving and Enzo Scipioni, this grass roots charity is based in Adelaide and operates throughout Australia to allow patience who rely on dialysis machines to stay alive, the chance to leave their home base and enjoy various fantastic day trips and even overseas holidays. DELA provides the dialysis machines and medical assistance so patience and their family members can enjoy the holiday time together that they thought they would never have again. With 19 years combined experience on dialysis, Nancy and Enzo know how important time away from a home base can be. Thus DELA was born.

In 2009, Tim became the Ambassador for DELA to help spread the word of the great work that DELA volunteers do, and to help raise much needed funds to cover medical and other costs. With a history of kidney failure and dialysis in Tim's family, he is quite aware of how precious extended time away from the home machine is.
